Homemade Essential Oil Infused Chakra Popsicles

The children have been home all summer long and we have been exploring different adventures and projects to do. As the days get hotter and hotter, we like to cool down with popsicles, but as always, I try to control the amount of sugar they are getting in their diet. So we decided to make our own. My youngest suggested we make rainbow popsicles and then I suggested that we make them aligned with the chakras.

If you are not that familiar with chakras, they are energy centers that govern spiritual power in the human body. Although there are quite a few (114 chakras to be exact), many of us primarily hear about seven of them and the colors associated with each. The first chakra is the Root Chakra and is usually denoted as red (I Am); the second is the Sacral Chakra and is denoted as orange (I Feel) ; the third is the Solar Plexus and is denoted as yellow (I Do); the fourth is the Heart Chakra and is usually denoted as green (I Love); the fifth is the Throat Chakra and is denoted as blue (I Speak); the sixth is Third Eye Chakra and is denoted as indigo (I See) and; the seventh is the Crown Chakra and that is denoted as light purple (I Am Worthy).

Making Chakra Pops are pretty simple. You first want to select foods that represent each of the colors above. You will need seven bowls to keep fruit mixtures separated and a high speed blender for mixing. I also added a few drops of lemon, lime and wild orange essential oils to some of the fruits to make the flavors pop.

Here is my recipe for making chakra pops and the food items that are needed.

Homemade Essential Oil Infused Chakra Popsicles

Ingredients:

RED LAYER

1 cup of raspberries

1-2 drops of orange essential oil

1 tbs of honey

water or liquid for blending

ORANGE LAYER

2 carrots

1/2 cup of coconut milk

1 tbs of honey

YELLOW LAYER

1 cup of mangoes

1-2 drops of lemon essential oil

1 tbs of honey

water or liquid for blending

GREEN LAYER

2 ripened bananas

1 tbs of green spirulina

water or liquid for blending

BLUE LAYER

2 ripened bananas

1 tbs of green blue spirulina (Blue Majic)

water or liquid for blending

INDIGO LAYER

1 cup of blueberries

1-2 drops of lime essential oil

1 tbs of honey

water or liquid for blending

LIGHT PURPLE LAYER

1 cup of blackberries

1-2 drops of lime essential oil

1 tbs of honey

water or liquid for blending

Methods:

For Each Fruit Mixture

1. Place all the ingredients in a blender and blend until smooth. Add more liquid to help it blend if it's too thick.

2. Transfer the smoothie to a bowl or container, rinse the blender and prep the next fruit mixture.

Assembling Chakra Popsicles

1. Using a spoon, layer each fruit mixture in a popsicle mold in order of how chakra colors have been presented above.

2. Once the molds are filled, add the sticks and freeze the popsicles overnight.

3. To get the popsicles to release from the mold, fill your kitchen sink with room temperature water. Place the mold in the water, making sure the water does not go above the top of the mold.

4. Allow the mold to sit in the water for a few seconds.

5. Begin to wiggle a popsicle free. If it feels tough, allow them to set in the water a few more seconds.

6. Once all of the popsicles are removed from the mold, enjoy or wrap the extras in plastic wrap and return to the freezer.

This project was fun and I was able to involve my children. I hope you enjoy making these as much as we did. Have Fun!
