If It Ain't Easeful...Do This First

The other day, I had a heart-to-heart with a friend who’s an entrepreneur. She’s deeply passionate about her work, incredibly generous with her time, and like so many of us, exhausted.

It’s summertime. Sales are down. Folks are traveling.
Jobs are being lost. Budgets are tightening.
And like many small business owners right now, she’s feeling the pinch.

She wears all the hats—sales, finances, client relations, community support. She’s the one everyone calls when things go wrong because she always shows up. But what happens when the one who’s always showing up… just can’t anymore?

She looked tired. Her voice cracked when she said,
“I’m overwhelmed.”

So I asked her, gently:
“How can we create more ease in your life?”
And that question stayed with me.

What Is Ease?

I looked it up—ease means comfort.
Freedom from pain or struggle.
A soft place to land.
A state of being where life flows with less friction.

Now think about it.
When was the last time you moved through your day with ease?
When was the last time you said
no without guilt, asked for help without shame, or allowed yourself to do less—and felt good about it?

If you're like most of us, you've been taught that struggle equals success.
That being stretched thin is a badge of honor.
But love,
if you do not begin to invite ease into your life, your body will eventually shut you down.
And your spirit? It’ll whisper until it has to scream.

So... How Do You Lean into Ease?

Let’s be honest—ease doesn’t mean doing nothing.
It means asking better questions.
It means
honoring your capacity.
It means
protecting your peace like it's sacred—because it is.

So the next time you’re staring down a task or a to-do list, ask:

  • Does this have to be done today?
  • Could someone else support me with this?
  • Is this aligned with the season I'm in?
  • How can I make this more easeful?

Ease might look like:

  • Rescheduling a call for when your energy is fuller
  • Delegating a task that drains you
  • Saying “no” with love—and without apology
  • Taking a moment to breathe before you respond

This Is Your Permission Slip

Let me remind you:
You have full permission to choose ease.
It doesn't mean you're lazy.
It doesn't mean you don't care.
It means you're wise.
It means you value your wellness over your hustle.
It means you are choosing to live in a way that doesn’t drain you but sustains you.

So here's your invitation:
Build your Easeful Framework.
Let “ease” be the lens you use in every decision—big or small.
Ask yourself daily,
“How can what I’m doing right now feel more gentle, more kind, more true to my spirit?”

You weren’t born to grind yourself into the ground. You were born to live, breathe, create, and love freely.

You can also ask yourself these Easeful Questions in building your Easeful Framework:

What tasks can be delegated or outsourced? Considering which activities are not essential and can be handled by someone else can free up time and mental energy for more important matters.

How can I simplify my routines and systems? Reviewing daily processes and looking for ways to streamline or automate them can create more efficiency and reduce stress.

Do my commitments align with my priorities and values? Assessing whether current commitments and activities resonate with personal values and long-term goals can help in prioritizing and focusing on the most meaningful endeavors.

What boundaries do I need to establish? Evaluating personal and professional boundaries can help create a healthier work-life balance and reduce the likelihood of burnout.

What healthy habits or rituals can I incorporate into my routine? Exploring and integrating simple and nourishing habits, such as mindfulness practices, regular physical activity, or healthier eating, can contribute to overall well-being and ease.

It's about being easeful...Historically, we work so hard and don't always consider how to simplify the things that we do. Now is the time to bring more ease into what we do.

So tell me — Where can you incorporate be more ease into your life? I’d love to hear from you. Just hit reply. I read every message.
